Design Narrative

Niagara Falls is famed for both its beauty and as a valuable source of hydro-electricity. The impressive power and splendor of the collective three waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada and the United States have inspired the design narrative and are translated through the elements in the lobby and through out the property. Fluid, organic patterns are juxtaposed against powerful geometry, reflective of the flow of the Falls and the power grid it creates. Just as important as the beauty of the Falls, is the profound history of the electrification developed here. Custom lighting, which mimic sparks of electricity are peppered throughout the lobby area, while the ‘Lantern’ wall provides a background of translucency, representative of water, yet maintains a notion of the vertical drop, respecting the power to create electricity with brass dimensional cascading fins. Carpet patterns play on the notion of geometry and fluidity, while the colour palette provides a serene and sophisticated ambience, with strong vertical and reflective metal accents through out the ground floor space.
